Why Bread & More?

Bread & More is more than a bakery — it’s the outcome of a personal journey marked by resilience, healing, and an unwavering belief that real food can change lives.

In 2008, the owner Jenny Derrickson was diagnosed with Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that brought years of pain, medication, and uncertainty. Traditional treatments provided little relief, so she and her husband began exploring natural ways to reduce inflammation and restore her quality of life.

Their search led them to traditionally fermented sourdough — real, simple food made the old-fashioned way.

By removing processed foods and embracing whole, nourishing ingredients, her symptoms gradually decreased. Over time, she was able to step away from daily medications entirely — something she once thought was impossible. Today, she lives with dramatically reduced symptoms and renewed energy.

But the story doesn’t start there.

When she was a little girl, her family relied on food banks and community shelters to get by.
Groceries didn’t always stretch far enough. She remembers walking into a food pantry at just eleven years old, picking up whatever food she could carry — and that was “normal.”
Her mother worked hard, but sometimes food still ran short.

Because of that early experience, feeding people will always be personal to her.

It’s not just a business. It’s a mission.

So Bread & More became more than a healing journey — it became a way to give back in the very way her own family once needed.

What started as home experiments in their kitchen turned into a mission:
To share the power of honest, thoughtfully made food with the community.

Every loaf is:

✔ Naturally fermented and easier to digest
✔ Made from clean, simple ingredients
✔ Free from unnecessary additives
✔ Baked with intention, care, and purpose
✔ Rooted in a story of transformation

Now, through this December initiative, each loaf you purchase helps bring that same nourishment — and hope — to a local family.
