The very first thing I address with clients—whether it’s in regard to their diet, training, or both—is hydration.

“How much water do you drink a day?”

Most people are surprised to find out how little actual water they drink. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, etc., don’t count.

I ask my clients to drink a specific amount of water appropriate to their individual needs. These are the three biggest obstacles I’ve found people struggle with when trying to meet their hydration goals:

1. They aren’t thirsty and don’t even think to drink, which makes it hard to build the habit.

2. They lose track of how much they’ve had. They drink half a bottle, then refill it, sip from that… what does that add up to? How do you track that?

3. Convenience and access to clean water. Sometimes there’s no bottled water around, or maybe you don’t trust the water coming out of the gym fountain.

Here’s how it answers those three obstacles:

1. You can set reminders so the bottle will alert you when it’s time to take a sip. Over time, you’ll develop the habit and naturally reach for water without being nudged.

2. The bottle tracks how much water flows through it over a given period of time, so you can simply check your app to see how much you’ve had and how much more you need to reach your goal.

3. The bottle is self-cleaning and self-purifying. If you fill it at the gym, just press the button and in one minute it has cleaned both the water and the bottle. It also cleans itself regularly every two hours, keeping it in a constant state of clean water in a sanitized bottle.

It does everything but drink the water for you!
